Class Descriptions

Shallow Water
This is an aerobic exercise class held in shallow water that works the entire body. The class starts with a warm up and then picks up the pace as we work the legs, arms, and stomach moving through the water with a variety of exercises. Towards the end of the class we work with water weights, ending the aerobic portion of the workout. Next we will do a few wall exercises and then conclude with a five minute cool down. Participants concentrate on working core muscles, using proper posture and having fun. The intensity of activity can be adjusted by each individual. Come and join us!

Deep Water
In the deep water class, you have the option of using a water belt. Those wanting a more strenuous workout can opt to go without the belt. The class starts with a warm up of four laps using different muscles. We then progress to the aerobic portion of the workout. Form is very important not only to get the most from the workout, but to prevent injuries. We continue the aerobics by using weights and sometimes noodles. The class ends with a five minute cool down. All participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and take breaks for water when needed. This class meets three times a week.  Come join us to challenge your body and your mind.

Water Walking
This class is low impact and very easy on your body. You control the calories you burn by setting your own pace as you walk. This is a good class for beginning exercisers looking for a low-impact way to get into the swing of an exercise regimen. Come and join us.

Arthritis Foundation Aqua Classes

Arthritis Plus
Don’t be misled by the title of the class! This is a great class not only for people with arthritis, but also diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension, heart disease, hip replacement, shoulder replacement, and other injuries. This class is taught under the guidelines of the Arthritis Association. We warm up with 10 - 15 minutes of walking and gentle exercises. Then we continue by moving through the water with low impact exercises, sometimes using floatation noodles. Next we do wall exercises and end the class with a five minute cool down.
