Lifeguarding Class at the Venice YMCA!

The South County Family YMCA (Venice and Englewood) needs more lifeguards. The Venice YMCA will be running a Red Cross Lifeguarding class starting December 5 with the goal of training and hiring new guarding staff. The cost of the class is $150 (waived for current South County Family YMCA employees) plus the cost of books / materials. The fee for the class will be refunded if/when participants are hired by the South County Family YMCA (Venice, Englewood, and Fort Meyers) and work 50 hours. Participants must be 16 years of age or older (you can get certified by the Red Cross at 15, but not hired by the YMCA until 16) and reasonably strong swimmer.

The class will be held at the Venice YMCA (701 Center Rd). The instructor for the class will be Randy Koran. Classes will be held on the following days and times. Each class session will run 2 ½ to 3 hours. Participants should be ready to swim each day.

We serve over 900 kids in our pools. We offer classes for members 6 months to 99 years – the young to young-at-heart.

Both the Venice YMCA and Englewood YMCA have beautiful, outdoor pools for our members’ and guests’ enjoyment. The Venice YMCA’s aquatics department has been in existence for over 30 years. The pool is 50 meters long and 25 yards wide, has two diving boards (1 meter and 3 meters), and is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer.
