Summer Camp
ROCK CLIMBING - Summer 2010
Many aspects of rock climbing are introduced and mastered during this week long camp.
Harness safety, vertical and horizontal climbing techniques, belaying, repelling, and team
building skills will all be developed. Each Wednesday camp participants will be bussed to the Englewood YMCA 50 foot Alpine Tower. Aquired climbing techniques will be utilized in efforts to reach the top.
- Participants will be split up into groups based on age & skill level.
- Proper climbing attire is required. Girls and boys wear a tee shirt or tank top and shorts with elastic waist. Absolutely NO jeans and shorts with zippers and buttons. Rock climbing shoes or scuba type beach shoes recommended. Having one’s own harness is beneficial. Helmets are required at the Alpine Tower. The YMCA provides harnesses & helmets to share. - Subway lunch orders will be taken on Wednesday for Friday’s lunch. (Additional fee
required.)
FULL-DAY ROCK CLIMBING CAMPS:
Days: Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM. - 5:00 PM
Age: Boys & Girls Grades 1- 8 (Must have completed kindergarten.)
Cost: 110.00/wk members 165.00/wk non-members
Summer “fun” memberships available
(Early drop-off at 7:00 a.m. and late pick-up until 6:00 p.m.)
**The staff will place rock climbing participants into the morning or afternoon
instructional times based on age & ability.
** No Registration fee for full or half day programs
HALF-DAY ROCK CLIMBING CAMPS:
Days: Monday - Friday choose from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM or 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Age: Boys & Girls Grades 1-8 (Must have completed kindergarten.)
Cost: 70.00/wk members 105.00/wk non-members per week summer “fun” memberships available
** No Registration fee for full or half day programs
