Youth Fitness Programs
Pre-teen Fitness: Ages 11 - 12 years
The South County Family YMCA Pre-teen Fitness classes meet one evening per week for 4 weeks each month. Check the updated Group Fitness Schedule for day and time.
Pre-teens ages 11 and 12 will have fun learning proper form and a great new fitness routine safe for that age group using the Bosu, stability balls, hand weights and more. They will have their own workout card, learn how to properly use the cardio machines as well as learn proper wellness center etiquette.
Once they’ve completed the 4 weeks, which includes a test to show what they’ve learned, they will receive their certification to use the Wellness Center with a parent.
Cost: $25.00 for members only.
Youth Fitness Circuit: Ages 8 - 13 years
Youth Fitness Circuit is a new youth fitness opportunity available to 8 to 13 year olds. There is no prerequisite for attending. Classes are offered once per week in the evenings and are FREE. Check the updated Group Fitness Schedule for day and time. No sign up is required, but class is limited to the first 6 that arrive. This class makes fitness training fun and encourages healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Fencing
Join fencing master Werner Meudt and the YMCA Fenciing Club for fun and fitness for the entire family. Kids ages 8 and up are encouraged to fence with their parents (parental involvement isn't a requirement - just a recommendation.)All levels of fencers are welcome. The Fencing Club meets Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:30 intermediate and 5:30 - 6:3-0 for beginners and Saturdays from 1 - 4 pm all levels. Werner does a free introductory class on Fridays at 4:30 for anyone interested in watching or trying out this exciting sport. Club fees are $20/month for members and $35/month for non-members.
